When a match is found, open the earthquake report for the hypocentre, magnitude and station observations. Official data may be revised in later reports.

Why did I feel shaking before an earthquake report appeared?
Community reports can arrive before official information. Reports alone do not confirm an earthquake. Keep this page open to follow new submissions and check the latest JMA reports. Do not wait for an update when you need to take action for your safety.
Do the map colours represent Shindo intensity?
No. The four levels describe subjective experiences: barely felt, noticeable, strong and very strong. Shindo is intensity measured at a station. P2PQuake signals use a separate map symbol and are not Shindo measurements either.
Why is my report not shown as a point on the map?
JISHINDESU reports are combined into hexagonal areas. An area appears once the required reporting threshold is reached, so the total may increase before a new area becomes visible. Exact user locations and individual reports are not displayed.
Does an empty map mean there was no earthquake?
No. The map shows only current community activity available from our sources. An absence of reports does not rule out an earthquake, and older activity disappears from this view. Use the earthquake archive for past events.
How can I add a report?
Use community shaking reports in the JISHINDESU app. This page lets you follow incoming activity. If the system matches it to a JMA report, a link to the official event details appears in the panel. Not every report will receive a match.
