Away from home? Monitor earthquakes in your Japanese town
Use home as the reference point and receive notifications without an account when a station within the selected radius reports your chosen Shindo level.

Monitor home instead of the phone’s current position
While travelling or staying outside Japan, GPS points to where you are now. Select “+ Add a place”, search for your home town or choose “Pick on map”, then save the point.
Choose a notification radius and minimum Shindo for the saved point. The condition applies to stations covered by that radius, including stations across municipal boundaries, not to the whole town or Japan-wide maximum Shindo. A station reading is not a measurement at your home. Older subscriptions without station coverage may still use a municipality; review and save their settings again.
When configuring notifications, the point's coordinates and radius are sent to the server to select stations. In the subscription, station identifiers, municipality associations, thresholds and technical delivery details are stored instead of the precise coordinates. Your own labels, such as “Home”, stay on the device. No account does not mean no data transmission; you can disable and delete the subscription in settings.
If several people monitor the same home, send them “Share this point”. The link preserves the point and radius, but it contains coordinates, so share it only with people to whom you intend to disclose that location.
Choose a threshold that matters to you
Select “Notifications for this area”, verify the point and notification radius, then choose the minimum Shindo. Shindo 3 limits messages to more clearly felt events, while a lower threshold gives a broader view of activity.
A JISHINDESU notification concerns an already reported station reading meeting the configured coverage and Shindo threshold. It is not an Earthquake Early Warning, confirmation of a person's safety or a measurement inside a particular building.
Installation depends on the device
These instructions cover the website and Web Push. Android and desktop require a browser supporting Web Push. On iPhone or iPad with iOS/iPadOS 16.4 or later, add the website to the Home Screen, open its icon and allow notifications. This is an installed website (PWA), not the App Store app. Install JISHINDESU from the App Store or Google Play separately and configure notifications inside that app; browser subscriptions do not transfer automatically.
Delivery also depends on operating-system settings, power saving and the browser. A JISHINDESU notification is not EEW and does not replace official JMA information.
Open the complete report after a message
The notification leads to the event information. Check the time, local Shindo, epicentre, depth and tsunami status. For a serious situation, continue with JMA and local authority instructions.
You can change or remove the subscription from the same settings screen. No account, email address or phone number is required.
